Conquering InfoClutter: Timesaving Technology Solutions for Teachers

This session helps “close the gaps” in teachers' technology skills. Most teachers did not grow up in a networked world with high-speed access to millions of resources with a few clicks of a mouse. This workshop comprehensively builds the digital foundation needed to survive in the fast-changing world. It starts with the basics of organizing and conquering infoclutter. It guides teachers through digital storage, retrieval, sharing and repurposing of documents in their digital file cabinets. It helps teachers move toward full technology integration in their classrooms. Every teacher needs this workshop for the timesaving tips.

This has been one of the most productive workshops I have been to for quite a while.  The pace, and your presentation address some of the issues I see again and again as I facilitate teachers with technology.             - Jennifer middle school science

The class has definitely motivated me to get and stay organized.   I love how many of the ideas we discussed in class save time!!!  As teachers, we know that time is very valuable.  I will save so much time next year!! I will be teaching a new grade this year, an am very excited to use what we have been learning.            - Third grade teacher

You have fulfilled and surpassed what I had hoped to derive from this class. Now, it’s a matter of time to put these tidbits into practice. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm, patience and encouragement, as we all wade through the piles of clutter in our lives.         - Jeanine, kindergarten teacher

This has been the best 2 day class I have ever attended. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I signed up for this class. Your book is very easy to navigate and gives step by step instructions with visuals which are incredibly helpful.

When I went home last night I shared so much of what you had taught with my husband. You have given us so much to use in our daily classroom management. Thank you so very much for these past 2 days. -June special education teacher

Out of the Wilderness

And suddenly Meg said, “Let there be light!” And it was good! Because of this class, I feel there is hope of actually beginning to integrate into my classroom the technology that I know is available. My action plan is two-fold and covers new information as well as old. Part of my problem in the past has been that I had so much information that was scattered everywhere that I didn’t even know where to start. In addition, I wanted everything to integrate perfectly, so I tended not to use what I did have because of course it wouldn’t be perfect. In this class I discovered that I could just start today, be organized from now on, use a little here and a little there, and then go back to the mess from the past and straighten out a little at a time.

The “old” stuff??? Now that I have a system, it doesn’t seem as overwhelming to deal with. I think I’ll be able to go through all those documents fairly quickly. I also realize that there is no panacea, no perfection where technology is concerned. If you lose a site or two, there are hundreds, thousands, etc. to replace them. I’m going to spend a limited time organizing my old clutter, and then chuck the rest and start fresh.

This class has been especially great for me because it has helped me to see how easy it can all be. I don’t need to make a project out of everything, and I really CAN get organized and stay organized. With that in mind, I can access all I need, and then some.      - Bernadine Middle School language arts teacher
